#iCompete247 #AthletesUnited featuring Andrew Fair

1. What motivates you?

My biggest motivation is wanting to get to a point where I don’t have to introduce myself. I consider myself an underdog, and that motivates me to work twice as hard as my competition. That way, I can never get comfortable.

2. Why do you compete?

I compete because it’s just in me. There’s no better feeling than training hard all summer, ¬†walking through the bright lights of your first game of the season, and showing that all of your hard work has paid off. I compete because of the preparation if that makes sense.

3. What are your keys to success in training?

Back in college, my coach always told me that whenever I’m struggling, always do failure plus too. For instance, if I’m benching and it feels like I can’t bench¬†any more, that’s failure. Add two more reps and you get the most out your workout. The major key is controlling your mind to push through, even when your body is failing.

4. What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?

The best advice I’ve gotten is that there’s always somebody working harder and training harder just to take your spot. That pushes me to work hard and be prepared. Overseas, you’ll run into some tough matchups, but because of the work I put in, I thrive in those situations.

5. What makes you different from other athletes?

What makes me different has nothing to do with the physical aspect of the game. It is the fact that I network. The sports industry is political and there are millions of people who can play but haven’t been given the opportunity. I spend a lot of time training, but I also build relationships. You never know who can get you an opportunity on the big stage.

6. Why does 24/7 Competition appeal to you?

I think 24/7 is a game changer because it doesn’t matter where you are; you can find somewhere to play and it doesn’t matter what sport you play. Basketball, football, etc. You can find local players to train with or compete against. It’s dope and I’ve never seen an app like.
