#iCompete247 #AthletesUnited featuring Willie Carter
1. What motivates you, why do you compete?
My motivation comes from the goals I set for myself because they can’t be accomplished by an ordinary person – You have to work hard and in some cases compete to achieve them. I’m always reminding myself that I have to be great because there’s always someone trying to take your spot.
2. What makes you different from other athletes?
I’m willing to outwork anybody to get where I need/want to be. If I put my mind to it nobody is going to stop me.
3. What are your keys to success in training? Any particular techniques help you get to the next level?
Build your body up to get it in the best shape possible for the season and work on your craft each and every day. What helped take my game to the next level is studying NFL WRs (Chad Ochocinco, Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, etc.) and adopting things they did well and adding them to my game. Basically, taking all their different swag and putting it in a pot to create a beast (laughs).
4. Who is your number 1 Fan?
My number fan hands down my mom, always has been and always will be.
5. What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?
“Don’t be afraid to give up the good and go for the great”… Those words will stick with me forever and keep me from being content and/or complacent. Don’t get me wrong, there nothing wrong with being content with where you are but if there’s a chance to advance – go for it.
6. Any Pre-training or pre-game rituals?
My pre-training and pre-game ritual has always been music and a quick prayer to give thanks to the man upstairs. With the music, I listen to all slow jams to calm my nerves but the closer it gets to kickoff it slowly goes rap music to get in my zone (laughs).
7. Why does 24/7 Competition appeal to you?
24/7 Competition appeals to me because it gives you everything an athlete needs to go in the direction of being successful. You find training facilities, jobs, connect with other athletes, hear success stories, etc. This can and will be huge for people who feel as if they can’t make it athletically because they don’t have the resources to connect with the right people and I feel like 24/7 will be the solution to that.
